LA REGIÓN
La Cuenca Minera de Huelva es una comarca que engloba siete términos municipales histórica y culturalmente vinculados a la explotación de la mina de Rio Tinto. La reactivación de la mina implicaría la revitalización económica de estos siete municipios así como nuevas oportunidades laborales para una población que supera los 17.500 habitantes.
EL POTENCIAL
El yacimiento de Rio Tinto es la mayor concentración de sulfuros del mundo. En los últimos 150 años la mina ha producido intensamente cobre, azufre, oro y plata. El bajo precio del cobre provocó el cierre de la mina en 2000. Las actuales cotizaciones del metal hacen rentable la explotación al menos en los próximos 14 años. La población de la zona, altamente cualificada, y las infraestructuras completamente operativas con que cuenta la mina, garantizan el inmediato reinicio de la actividad.

EMED Tartessus es una empresa española fundada por EMED Mining para recuperar la actividad en la Cuenca Minera de Huelva.
EMED Mining, con sede en Chipre, es una multinacional minera que cotiza en la Bolsa de Londres.

Introduction to EMED Tartessus
THE REGION
The Huelva Mining Valley is a region encompassing seven different municipalities, historically and culturally linked to the Rio Tinto Mining exploitation. The restart of the mine involves the economic revival of these seven villages and the creation of new opportunities for a population over 17,500 inhabitants.
THE POTENTIAL
The Rio Tinto deposit has the largest sulphide concentration in the world. Over the past 150 years, the mine has been intensively producing copper, sulphur, gold and silver. Low copper prices caused the mine to close back in 2000. The current copper prices mean that the exploitation will be profitable for at least the next 14 years. The highly skilled local population and the existing fully operational production facilities guarantee that mining and processing operations can be promptly restarted.

EMED Tartessus is a Spanish subsidiary of EMED Mining to restart mining activities at Proyecto de Rio Tinto.
